Old World Europe awaits on a Rhine River cruise

Tauck Exclusive – An evening at Burg Satzvey

Cross the moat for a special evening at Burg Satzvey

Considered one of the best-preserved medieval moated castles in Germany's North Rhine-Westphalia region, Burg Satzvey (Satzvey Castle), not far from Köln, has been home to the same noble family for more than 300 years. We invite you to cross the moat and visit this 12th-century castle after hours for a Tauck Exclusive tour and gala evening with a reception, dinner and musical entertainment… to which you’ll be welcomed by a member of the family.

By cog railway to Mt. Pilatus

To and from Mt. Pilatus by cogwheel train or gondola

Since the 1880s, the world’s steepest cogwheel train has been bringing travelers up and down Mt. Pilatus in Switzerland, climbing nearly 7,000 ft. from the edge of Lake Lucerne to the mountain's summit (Oberhaupt). On your visit to Lucerne, you'll take this thrilling ride that has you traveling upward at a 48° angle. Or, if the weather is uncooperative, you may make the ascent by gondola (cable car). Either way, getting there is definitely part of the fun, as you enjoy soaking up views of Alpine meadows and mountain streams, goats and flowers.

The casualness and playfulness of the staff was great. They made every activity fun for everyone. It really bridged the gap between the young and elderly.

Just returned from a Rhine Bridges river cruise with our 13-year-old granddaughter. Can't praise Tauck enough for the simply marvelous experience! Besides the scenery, impeccable cabins, food and service on the newly-minted M.S. Grace, the standout was the three tour directors' ability to turn a group of 50 kids from strangers into fast friends.

Most Memorable Moment:

The final night when Tauck tour directors held a "bazaar" wherein the kids could redeem their "Tauck Bucks" for prizes. Every kid on the ship participated and had a blast - and we had a blast watching them!

The Tauck river-ship was well equipped and spacious. In hindsight, I would not recommend taking a Tauck Bridges trip if you don't have young children with you. A lot of the evenings and events were geared towards the children. That said, our tour directors still checked in with us and even helped arrange for museum tickets after our cruise ended!

Most Memorable Moment:

Beautiful weather viewing all the castles on the middle section of the Rhine River. And this being a Tauck trip - I couldn't decide on MOST memorable moment as I also loved visiting the city of Strasbourg with its one-spired cathedral and picturesque houses by the river.
