Four nights inside Yellowstone

Nights 3, 4, 5 and 6

Spend four nights at two lodges inside Yellowstone National Park

Named among "50 Tours of a Lifetime" by National Geographic Traveler magazine, our small group "Yellowstone & the Tetons: American Safari" defines adventure in Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks, and features four nights at two inside-the-park properties in Yellowstone National Park – two at Old Faithful Snow Lodge, recognized with the Cody Award for Western Design as a significant modern example of "classic" new-style architecture within the park; and two at the historic, recently renovated Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel and Cabins.

Snake River rafting trip

Day 2

Enjoy a whitewater rafting adventure on the Snake River

Legend has it that the Snake River got its name by mistake, when a Shoshone hand sign for "fish" was misinterpreted as "snake," and the name stuck. Whatever you call it, it's a pretty awesome river – as you'll find out for yourself when you head out on a whitewater rafting adventure along the Snake's route through the magnificent Tetons.

Bicycling in the Tetons

Day 8

Go bicycling in Grand Teton National Park

Trade in your hiking boots (temporarily) for a bicycle as you join our guide for a leisurely ride on the new Teton Mountain Trail, travelling along the scenic sagebrush of Antelope Flats, with the majestic Tetons just beyond – keeping an eye out for bison, pronghorn and, naturally, antelope as you marvel at the grandeur around you.

Expert talks in Yellowstone

Days 4 and 6

Enjoy talks by a park historian and a wildlife photographer in Yellowstone

Our exclusive partnership with award-winning filmmakers Ken Burns and Dayton Duncan has created exclusive on-tour film vignettes, Ken Burns Events, and Crafted by Tauck and Ken Burns journeys including "Yellowstone & the Tetons: American Safari." The many exclusive touches to these specially created tours include access to Ken and Dayton's extensive network of local experts to maximize your travel experience in the National Parks in ways that add layers of meaning and appreciation… like talks by a national parks historian at your lodge and a wildlife photographer in his log cabin!

This was our best trip ever! Not only because of the beauty and Yellowstone and the Tetons but also because of our guide. His knowledge was exceptional, his attention to details made this trip wonderful! The unique experiences like visiting the home place of Olaus & Mardy Murie and the Snake River Ranch made this trip exceptional.

Most Memorable Moment:

Tauck always books the finest. In the National Park this is equivalent to Holiday Inn so don't be surprised. I brought twice as many clothes as necessary. Very casual; resort casual is overdressed. Think jeans and hoodies. Never wore shorts for trip starting Aug 21. Happy to have had rain poncho, gloves, and binoculars.

Most Memorable Moment:

Rafting; got uber wet. They supply wet suits but I wore a fleece and poncho. Best of all was the visit to the Hartmann's, a photographer who shared his near death experience with bears while shooting owls. Such a great experience hearing his stories. And then there's the Grand Geyser, not as predictable as Old Faithful but OMG!
