European River Cruising

Seine River Cruises

Traveling right through the heart of Paris, Tauck's Seine River cruises provide an immersive experience as you meander through painted landscapes, seaside villages and historic towns.

Seine River Cruising
Paris, France

Exclusively inclusive river cruising

Our Seine rhapsody is a river of inspirations... a sojourn in the dreamy haunts of Impressionist painters... romantic villages, cozy cafés, opulent estates, cider farms, seascapes, and exquisite gardens in the heart of Normandy....

Follow the Seine on an 8-day river sojourn, winding from Parisian suburbs to the sea and back, discovering small towns, romantic chateaux and medieval cities, windy seascapes, and colorful gardens that inspired Impressionist painters. Walk in Van Gogh's footsteps at Auvers-sur-Oise... admire the breathtaking view from the heights of Richard the Lionheart's castle at Les Andelys... before opening hours, immerse in the picture-perfect beauty of Monet's gardens and lily ponds at Giverny... stand awestruck at the island monastery of Mont St. Michel, and the D-Day beaches at Pointe du Hoc... wander the cobbled streets of medieval Rouen, and the charming seaside port of Honfleur, where Monet learned to paint with oils, and Impressionism was born. Along the way you'll also find the soul of Norman cuisine, the essence of calvados, and enjoy special evenings as the royals once did at elegant centuries-old Château de Bizy and Château du Taillis.

Experiencing Paris

Paris is...

Its unique arrondissements, brimming with character, like the Marais – home to trendy cafés, galleries and boutiques… the River Seine, winding its way through the city… the Eiffel Tower, one of the world's most recognizable icons… the Cathedral of Notre-Dame, needing no introduction… the incomparable Louvre, perhaps the most famous museum on Earth… Rue Montorgueil, ined with produce stands, boulangeries, cheese shops, wine stores, and fishmongers… Les Invalides, the palatial complex housing the monumental tomb of Napoleon… Place de la Bastille, site of the infamous fortress where the French Revolution began… Père Lachaise, the famous cemetery and final resting place of Jim Morrison, Oscar Wilde, and Edith Piaf. And that's just the beginning…

Tauck Exclusive Early-opening Visit to Monet's Giverny

Claude Monet's home and gardens in Giverny, without crowds

In springtime, the famous villa and gardens in the village of Giverny is awash in pink and green, adorned in wisteria, azalea and water lilies, and basked in dappled sunlight reminiscent of the works of its 43-year resident, painter Claude Monet. Our exclusive pre-opening visit to the pioneer Impressionist's retreat shows you the artist's home as he lived it and painted it. Monet's pink stucco house gives the impression that his family of 10 still lives there; its rooms showcase private furnishings, and his collection of Japanese prints adorn walls throughout. Walk along pathways bordered with nasturtiums, hollyhocks, hybrid lilies or snapdragons, and go through the tunnel that leads to the Water Garden and the Japanese Bridge.

An exclusive, private Tauck evening at Château du Taillis

Dinner, music and more at historic Château du Taillis

An exclusive Tauck experience, featuring a gala reception, dinner and music, awaits during an evening at an 16th-century Renaissance château set on a park-like estate in the Normandy countryside, not far from the Seine. Built in 1530, the exquisite Italian Renaissance mansion with baroque interiors boasts a 300-year medley of architectural styles that reflect the tastes and times of its owners, known for its stately gardens and arboretum

Visit Versailles

Tour the halls of the former royal residence

We take mirrors pretty much for granted today, but back in King Louis XIV's time, they were very expensive, which may be why he had the Hall of Mirrors (with 357 individual mirrors) built in his Château de Versailles. Frankly, he was a bit of a show-off. Although no one really knows for sure, historians estimate that it may have cost the "Sun King" (and therefore the people of France) more than $2 billion (in today's US dollars) to build his over-the-top palace in the town of Versailles outside Paris. Prepare to be dazzled when your guide takes you inside the palatial estate on a visit to Versailles.
