Traveling with Tauck Bridges

Family Travel FAQ

There are many questions and considerations you might have when planning a Tauck Bridges family adventure. We've identified some of the more common questions we receive about our family land journeys and cruises.

Built for a family of travelers

What are the age requirements for Tauck Bridges journeys?

Our recommended age minimum for Tauck Bridges journeys is 8, based on our experience with family travelers. Each itinerary has a minimum recommended age designed to support the comfort and enjoyment of all guests, and we encourage reviewing the specific trip details when planning. Some activities may also have age restrictions, and all children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. At least one guest in the traveling party must be 21 or older to make a reservation.

Minimum age requirements vary by Tauck Bridges itinerary. Many journeys welcome changes 3 and older, however, the minimum age is 4 for Tauck Bridges river cruises, 5 for African safaris, 6 for Galápagos cruises and 8 for our Croatia cruise.

While family is at the heart of Tauck Bridges, we encourage thoughtful consideration when traveling with younger children. Many itineraries include activities, pacing, and experiences that may not be well suited to very young guests. If a child is unable to participate in a scheduled activity, a parent or guardian is responsible for staying with them, as childcare is not provided during the journey.

Who are Tauck Bridges journeys best suited for?

Tauck Bridges journeys are designed for families traveling together, including parents, children, and often grandparents. Each journey is built around shared experiences that bring generations together, with opportunities to learn, explore, and connect in meaningful ways.

Are these trips a good fit for older kids and teens?

Yes, the average age on tour is 13. Experiences are designed to engage older kids and teens through hands-on activities, cultural immersion, and opportunities for independence, allowing them to connect more deeply with the destination.

Active by design

How active are Tauck Bridges journeys?

These journeys are active and immersive by design. Days often include guided hiking, ziplining, biking, kayaking, and travel between destinations, all thoughtfully planned to maximize your time and create a deeper connection to the places you visit. For more specific details, reference the activity and pace listed on each of our tours as well as more details here.

Flexibility to make it yours

Is everything scheduled, or is there free time?

There is a thoughtful balance. While the key elements of your journey are carefully planned, free time is built in throughout, giving your family the flexibility to explore independently, recharge, or simply enjoy time together.

Will we have time to spend just with our own family?

Yes. While shared experiences are central to the journey, there are natural breaks and free time that allow you to step away and enjoy time on your own. Meals also offer flexibility – most group meals are not arranged at one long table, but with seating that allows you to dine as a family or mingle with other guests.

How much flexibility do we have during the trip?

Our journeys balance guided experiences with personal time throughout the itinerary. While all experiences and excursions are included, you'll also have opportunities to explore as a family, relax at your accommodation, or pursue interests that fit your family's pace. Your Tauck Director can offer recommendations to help you make the most of these moments, and families are welcome to sit out select activities or choose their own plans when preferred.

Less to plan, more to enjoy

What does "all-inclusive" mean on a Tauck Bridges journey?

All-inclusive means that everything on your journey is taken care of in advance, including accommodations, all guided experiences, sightseeing, all gratuities, and majority of meals.

This allows you to focus on what matters most. Spending time together and fully engaging with each destination, without the need to manage day-to-day logistics.

Are there any additional costs to consider?

Most of your experience is included. Some meals and some activities during free time are not included, allowing you the flexibility to make choices that best suit your family.

Connections made along the way

What is it like traveling with other families?

Traveling with other families often becomes a highlight of the journey. Through shared experiences, connections form naturally, and many families leave not only with lasting memories, but with new friendships. At the same time, there is plenty of space to explore independently and enjoy time together as your own family.

What makes Tauck Bridges different from planning a trip on our own?

Tauck Bridges combines the ease of a fully supported journey with access to experiences that can be difficult to arrange on your own. Beyond planning the itinerary, we take care of the many details that often go overlooked, coordinating transportation, managing transitions between destinations, and handling logistics throughout the journey.

What types of experiences are included for kids?

Tauck Bridges makes it easy for families to experience the world together through hands-on, interactive activities and the comfort of a fully supported journey. With experiences like whitewater rafting, horseback riding, and guided museum scavenger hunts, each experience is designed so guests of all ages can learn, explore, and enjoy the journey together.

Is this a good option for a first international family trip?

What types of accommodations can we expect?

From coaches and trains to on-tour flights, each detail is handled for you, including your return to the airport, allowing you to focus fully on the experience rather than the logistics.
