  • Any suggestions on places to visit in Budapest following the cruise?

    #5 Posted : Saturday, September 23, 2017 12:45:59 AM

We are in Budapest right now on the land tour and most of the major sites are covered Both nside and out. I am not sure what the River tour includes, maybe it is just drive bys. The Parlament building is spectacular inside, but by the crowds, it looks like you would have to get tickets well in advance, but we were in a Tauck bubble, so of course we skipped lines and had a glorious guided tour there. It also has a really good gift shop. The Opera building is just about to close for renovation, the seats have already been removed. Our favorite estra tour was the Hospital in the Rocks. We did not think the Crafts part of the market hall was worth it but the food market area was interesting. It is very very busy here and has been wet and pretty cold, layers! Someone stole my Ritz Carlton unmbrella at the door while we were eating lunch but we continued to brave the rain and wind that day.

When we did the Australia tour, the tram dinner was part of the tour, then it was taken off the tour because comments on the hope and trust feedback was that many people did not think it was worthwhile. We enjoyed it, so it just goes to show how hard it is for Tauck to please everyone.

My husband and I are booked on this trip. We are John & Linda from Lower Delaware. Anyone else booked? I had the wrong date. Anyone on this trip with us?

My husband and I will be on the same tour. We live in southern Ohio.

I heard that being a grandparent was one of the greatest things that could happen to you, and I believed it because of how profoundly being a parent changed my life, and how fondly I remember my grandparents.

I keep running into Hemingway. On a recent visit to Cuba, I discovered that Hemingway lived in Cuba for 20 years and wrote seven books there, including A Moveable Feast. That was the first Hemingway book I ever read, the first book assigned in my freshman English class, and is still my favorite Hemingway book.
